For “The Polish Donut,” I’d especially like to thank Sam McAdams from the Illinois Novel Quest group. During a writing session challenge, participants had to work a random phrase into their story to win a small momento. Mine was: “Airdrop an army of environmentally conscious otters into Lake Michigan to fight Asian Carp and combat climate change.” Finding a way to fit that into the story was half the fun – and I won a writing buddy.
